Improvements Coming! Our website is in need of a fresh new look and improved functionality, so one of our top priorities for 2010 is to give this site a complete makeover — new design, new graphics, new online shopping experience, everything! The new site is in the works, but it will take some time to get it ready to launch. We hope you will find it worth the wait! We are a privately owned and operated small press publisher creating and marketing a range of graphic arts and fiction publications, with a focus on animals both real and imagined. The products that we publish include full length novels, comic collections, short fiction anthologies and periodicals, and our "Artistic Visions" line of featured-artist sketch and commentary collections. Congratulations, Kyell Gold! Kyell's story "Race to the Moon", published in New Fables, Summer 2009, has been nominated for the Washington Science Fiction Association 2010 Small Press Award for Short Fiction. You can read more about the award nomination as reported by Weasel Wordsmith, as well as in Kyell Gold's own blog. Fans of science fiction might also enjoy: New Tibet – a harsh, bleak, but mineral-rich arctic world in a far-flung corner of the galaxy. Most inhabitants are poor, in thrall to corporations or organized crime, unable to afford passage off-world. To survive, they have nobody to rely on save for each other. Under these conditions, true natures are laid bare, love is fleeting and precious, and death is always one misstep away. Stories about New Tibet can be found in two anthologies edited by Tim Susman: Breaking the Ice: Stories from New Tibet and Shadows in Snow: More Stories from New Tibet, as well as in Susman's novel Common and Precious. Thousand Leaves – a complex world of science, politics and religion, with plenty of intrigue and violence to go around, brought to life by Kevin Frane. In Thousand Leaves, a group of friends must uncover the roots of an epidemic that may reach as high as the government. In The Seventh Chakra, two genetically modified agents attempt to complete a mission gone wrong while making sense of the unexpected changes in their bodies and minds. | Additional Featured Titles from our Catalog: Ursula Vernon's "Digger" – The collected volumes of the highly acclaimed online comic about a pragmatic female wombat lost in a world of decidedly non-pragmatic Gods, oracular slugs, religious police, and vampire squash. Winner of the Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards for Outstanding Black and White Art (2005 & 2006) and Outstanding Anthrpomorphic Comic (2006), and a 2006 Will Eisner Comic Industry Award nominee. New Fables – Escape the modern world with a selection of wild literature! New Fables brings the tradition of literary journals to Sofawolf Press. These fabulist stories, poems, and essays use animal characters to explore human experiences of love, class society, memory, and many others. Artistic Visions – This series spotlights the sketches, inspiration, and creative process of a variety of animators, designers, and illustrators. Featured artists include: Disney animator "Herbie", character desginers Brian and Tracy Reynolds, illustrator Ursula Vernon, and animator/designer Cynthia "RedTango" Petrovic. Dog's Days of Summer – This full-color comic started out as an online webcomic, with each week’s segment determined by readers’ votes. The first half of the story developed as readers directed the main character’s actions through a weekly multiple-choice poll. The main character, Diego, evolved with each new installment and grew to be an easy-going yet indecisive guy, his personality sculpted and shaped by many hands. However, in this conclusion of the online comic, one decision remains that Diego must decide on his own, and he’ll need to be ready to accept the sacrifice. Volle & Pendant of Fortune – Take a little bit of fantasy, a little bit of mystery, a little bit of gay romance (okay... actually a lot), combine it with a lot of great writing, and you have these two novels from author Kyell Gold. Set in a Medieval fantasy world, the novels are definitely geared for an adult audience, but have a great depth and character complexity. Heat – Our mixed-media periodical definitely aimed at the adult audience. Heat features comics, short stories, poetry, and illustrations celebrating the erotic. This is just a sampling of the material we have published so far, and we are always looking for exciting new projects to satisfy our ever-expanding audience.
