Produced by Teagan Gavet, Dark End & Alopex
Heat, Volume #11 has grown thicker and longer with the collaboration of our editorial team. Teagan Gavet has returned to manage art, comics and layout design. Dark End has taken a greater role in story editing and helping shepherd the project along. Alopex and Jeff Eddy have remained on board for reading the slushpile and a bit of editing as well. This volume as been a great team effort, pulled off once again just in time for our usual Anthrocon release.
- Detective O'Hye is a hard-boiled cop in a soft-boiled city. His wife Elsie is a private eye with a one-track mind. Their burning passion for each other (and for taking down criminals) will help them solve The Case of the Gelatinous Gemstone (by Tempe O'Kun, illustrated by Keovi).
- In Never Again, a comic by SophieCabra, Dex and Toby haven't seen each other in what feels like forever, but it's hard to find a private moment when they both arrive at YuCon 2014.
- In Lines by Huskyteer, illustrated by Pegibruno, Judi's acting career is stumbling, as the jobs aren't coming in like they used to. The only thing keeping her and her lover afloat is the phone sex business she runs on the side, but that could fail too unless she finds a new source of inspiration.
- In On Duty, a comic by Blue_Panther, a meeting between two horses reminds us of all the naughty implications of "a hard day's work."
- Jewels of Remorse (by Slip-Wolf, illustrated by Ludo, a.k.a. bloodshot23) takes us to a backwater planet on the far reaches of civilized space, where three con artists are about to pull off the scheme of a lifetime...if only their leader could get over his doubts about the job.
- In Sheep Trials, a comic by BlackTeagan, it's the day before the big game, the puns are flying fast and furious, and...hey, wait a minute! That's not what a shepherd's crook is for!
- In Lip Service (by Whyte Yoté, illustrated by Mari), a simple, quiet, unassuming polar bear dining alone at a posh restaurant would typically not be a mystery, but to his waiter, Than, who believes he knows what everyone wants, this one customer is a complete enigma.
- Heat, a poem by Camron Cuccu and illustrated by Arphalia, is a very appropriate inclusion in this magazine, telling the tale of burning passion that consumes all in its path.
- Da Capo al Fine (by Dark End, illustrated by Katie Hofgard) introduces us to Helena, a popular porn actress with a secret: she isn't the real Helena. She is a copy meant to take the real Helena's place, with the same body, the same name, and the same memories — memories that are growing harder and harder to distinguish from reality with each passing hour.
- In Well Rounded, a comic by Etuix, while Maggie visits her sick friend at Wolfsong University, she gets a surprise lesson in sexuality from her friend's roommate. After all, a good education should be well rounded.
- A trip to Wizard Livingfire's "Dis-spell the Gay" camp sounds like fun to Koris. He gets to spend a lot of time in the company of many handsome men, and it's not like magic can alter Koris's Fundamental Natures (by Kyell Gold, illustrated by Darren 'Coyox' Waud)... Right?
"Advertising" in this issue is provided by Calor Sudor premium liquor (by Donryu) and a movie poster for "The Geneticist" starring Silvio Genet (by Kamui). Additional entertainment involving Knotty Words provided courtesy of BlackTeagan.
The wrap-around cover features art from Blotch inspired by Slip-Wolf's story Jewels of Remorse.
